NSP Urges Senate to Advance Farmer Assistance in Budget Reconciliation
WASHINGTON (August 4, 2026) — National Sorghum Producers issued the following statement:
“As Congress continues work on a strong farm bill, National Sorghum Producers urges the U.S. Senate to prioritize swift consideration and passage of the budget reconciliation package, including $12 billion in additional, much-needed economic assistance for agriculture.
Sorghum farmers continue to face the compounding effects of low commodity prices, high input costs and consecutive years of weather-related losses. This assistance will not erase those losses, but it would provide critical relief as producers work to stay in business and prepare for the next crop year.
We appreciate President Trump and the House for recognizing the seriousness of conditions in farm country and urge the Senate to act quickly so USDA can deliver this assistance as soon as possible.”
