NSP Welcomes Appointments of New FSA Directors in Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico
WASHINGTON (August 21, 2025) — National Sorghum Producers (NSP) today congratulated the newly appointed U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA) directors for Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico.
“These appointments are important for farmers across the Sorghum Belt, and we are eager to work with each of these leaders to ensure programs are implemented in ways that meet the needs of sorghum producers,” NSP CEO Tim Lust said.
In Texas, Dan Hunter has been named state executive director for the FSA. Hunter most recently served as assistant commissioner for the Texas Department of Agriculture and has held leadership roles across multiple commodity sectors including cotton and peanuts. In Oklahoma, Eddie Fields will serve as state executive director. A third-generation cattleman and producer from Wynona, Fields brings experience as a former legislator and chairman of the Oklahoma Ethics Commission. In New Mexico, Zach Riley has been appointed state executive director. Riley, from a long-time ranching family in eastern New Mexico, has extensive experience in agriculture policy and advocacy including work with the Farm Bureau and livestock associations.
“Strong state leadership at FSA makes a real difference for our members,” Lust said. “We look forward to working with Directors Hunter, Fields and Riley to continue strengthening sorghum producers’ access to programs that are vital to our farms and rural communities.”
